Maltby Main set the early NCEL pace

Maltby Main lead the way at the top of the NCEL Premier Division following an unbeaten August which has brought three wins and a draw as well as FA Cup progress.

A 2-1 win over Runcorn Linnets in the preliminary round of the prestigious cup competition on Saturday will see Maltby host Frickley Athletic in the first round qualifying on Saturday 8th September.

Ross Duggan and Danny Frost with the goals for Maltby at Runcorn as they came from behind to seal their path through to the next round of the tournament.

They beat Athersley Recreation in the extra preliminary round.

And enjoy topping the tree at the end of August thanks to wins over Harrogate Railway Athletic, Bridlington Town and Goole AFC as well as a draw with Albion Sports.

Maltby are at home to Ashton Athletic in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase on Saturday before hosting Glasshoughton Welfare in the second round of the NCEL League Cup on Wednesday night (5th September).

Elsewhere, Dinnington Town, of the Central Midlands Football League North Division, sit third from bottom having lost their opening three matches. They face Collingham on Saturday.
