Main men earn bragging rights over rivals Parkgate

A BUMPER crowd of 253 watched Maltby Main continue their late season resurgence at Muglet Lane on Saturday.

Steve Adams’ Main beat high flying local rivals Parkgate 3-1.

The result made it five games unbeaten for Maltby, who remain second bottom in the NCEL Premier but just two points behind Lincoln Moorlands.

Main took an early lead thanks to a goal from Thomas Foylten-Brown on nine minutes.

But Jonathan Wragg found his own net five minutes before the break to level the scores.

Rob Branagan restored Main’s lead on the hour mark with a spectacular overhead kick, and with just nine minutes left Craig Gladwin secured the points for one of the results of the season for Maltby.

The last three games of the 2011/12 season will give Main a decent chance of improving their league position.

Main can climb one place in the league table if they beat Lincoln Moorlands Railway at home, tomorrow.

And next weekend they’ll face the side one place above the Railway men, Long Eaton United, away from home.

The final game of the season will see Main host rock bottom Selby Town at Muglet Lane.
