Main falter, Town in top 10

MALTBY Main’s unbeaten streak came to a halt on Saturday, while Dinnington Town secured a point away from home in NCEL action.

In the Premier Division Main were beaten 2-1 at Long Eaton United, who secured their Premier status for next season and kept Main’s relegation battle alive.

Lee Whittington put Main ahead in the first period but the home side turned it around in the last 11 minutes with William Mellors-Blair sparking the comeback.

Maltby have one game left but even victory over Selby Town may not be enough to keep them safe, as Lincoln Moorlands Railway are just a point behind them with two to play.

Dinnington Town engaged in a topsy turvy battle with Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday to move into ninth in Division One.

Javan Benjamin put the home side in front but Dinnington hit back through Matthew Smith and James Roper.

Craig Heard levelled at 2-2 in the second half, but Smith’s second on 85 minutes looked to have given the points to Steve Toyne’s men.

Carl Heard had other ideas however, equalising with three minutes remaining to secure a point.
