Following the departure of Craig Rouse, who returned to Pontefract Collieries as manager, Parry decided on promoting from within and placed his trust in Jeffs to become his new assistant. Mark Whitehouse was also given the role of head coach.

Jeffs explained the qualities that he believes he possesses upon taking the role.

“I am honoured to be given the chance by Craig to be able to step up into the assistant manager role,” said Jeffs.

“A big thing in football, and life, is trust, and there aren’t many more people that I trust as much as Craig.

“It is a great opportunity here at Worksop because I can just see where things are going both on and off the pitch, and it is going to be a really exciting place to be around.

“I probably don’t think I am as vocal as Craig [Rouse]; I am probably more of a ‘quiet word in his ear’ type of assistant manager.

“I like to analyse things, so I think that works quite well and it has worked quite well whilst Craig and I have been at different clubs, however, on the same token, I will come forward if something needs to be said.

“I have played at this level for quite a long time; I would like to think that I know what makes players tick, so I hope that I can transfer some of that knowledge that I already have into this role.

“The big thing is that I know Craig very well. I know how he works, and I know the style of play that he likes to play, and it’s the style that I have become accustomed to as I like to play that style also.”

Jeffs also described the changes that he feels will differ from when he was a head coach.

“If you look at it on paper, it brings more responsibility,” he continued.

“I think a lot of the things that I will be doing won’t be an issue for me, with stepping up and looking at things from a more tactical point of view.

“I have got experience of that and I have done that before, so to me, it is a relatively smooth transition that I have no concerns about.”
