Manager Nigel Adkins hopes his Sheffield United side can build on their five-star JPT showing this weekend, when play-off rivals Rochdale visit Bramall Lane.

Adkins’s side bounced back from Saturday’s disappointment at Port Vale to hammer Notts County on Tuesday, progressing in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in the process.

And the Blades boss, who left out Neill Collins as a precaution and is set to welcome back Chris Basham after suspension, said: A win builds confidence and momentum.

“We’ve got to use that in a positive manner this weekend. Everyone is well aware of what our targets are, and everyone has got to keep working hard. The lads responded after last weekend [at Vale].

“There’s a great spirit and togetherness among the group. There’s a grit and determination. And we want back to back wins now.”

Jose Baxter netted a brace of penalties, Che Adams also scored from the spot and Stefan Scougall and Matt Done also got their names on the scoresheet ahead of the visit of Keith Hill’s side.

Neill Collins, who was left out against County as a precaution, could return against Dale while Chris Basham is available again following suspension.
