League calls on Sunday stars of past and present for 50th bash

The Hornes Construction Limited Worksop Sunday Football League are calling on all players and officials, past and present, to join a 50th anniversary bash.

The event will be held this summer, to celebrate 50 years of Sunday League in the town.

Manton Club in Worksop will play host to the party on 12th July, with doors opening at 7pm.

Entry will cost £2, which will include a pie and pea supper.

This Sunday will see the first of the league’s cup finals take place at Manton Club.

The Challenge Cup final pits Division One sides Manton Sports and Worksop Borough against each other.

Borough go into the game on the back of a 15-0 victory at DFS Welbeck, while their opponents Manton won 2-1 at home to Greendale last weekend.

The Worksop Borough fixture wasn’t the only game to see a deluge of goals last Sunday, as Yates United and Woodhouse Inn shared the spoils in an eight-goal thriller.
