The cash-strapped Tigers are in need of raising £30,000 by the end of the month to satisfy innitial debts while a new chairman has been sounded out.

Pete Whitehead, who owns the football ground on Sandy Lane, has agreed to take over the reins if the club can hit that target by the end of February.

Jordan praised the support the Tigers have received following the positive reaction to an official statement about the club’s potential closure.

“The support has been brilliant,” said Jordan.

“It’s not good to see any football club in financial struggles but it is especially hard when it is a club that has been my life for the last ten years, so it is overwhelming.

“When I saw the statement go out, having spoken to him, I said to Pete [Whitehead] that they [the fans] will get it because that’s what they do – they have saved the club time and time again.

“It is a shame that people keep putting people’s livelihoods at stake. People spend a lot of money to come and watch us, travelling home and away, and look forward to coming to the games.

“However, we keep running into people who want to keep hindering the club’s progression for their own personal benefit and it is unacceptable, and I am sure they will get brought to justice.

“We can only thank Pete for giving us that offer if we can sort the money out, and it is refreshing as it is a light at the end of a tunnel.

“It is not just people asking for money again, as has happened in the past – it is a viable way out of the position that we are in, so we are extremely grateful to him.

“We have already seen a lot of people working day and night on social media to try and help raise the funds and help people get involved.

“It is overwhelming and I’m sure it will take a turn for the better soon."

On the pitch, Worksop have failed to score in their last three games which have all ended in defeat. The latest coming on Tuesday night when the Tigers were beaten 2-0 away to Sutton Coldfield Town.

Chasetown visit Sandy Lane on Saturday (3pm).

“It is frustrating because we’re struggling to score,” said Jordan.

“We’re not taking the little half-chances that we are getting, and we aren’t creating enough.

“Mitch [Craig Mitchell] has been brilliant for us, but he’s been a little quiet recently and we are at the point that when he is not scoring. We need someone to step up and take the weight off his shoulders a bit and they’re not doing that, so I feel a bit for him.

“We are in a rut, but it is something we shouldn’t worry too much about as the club has much bigger issues, however, it is frustrating for the boys; I can’t really fault their efforts.”

And added: “I know they have got it in them to bounce back on Saturday.”
