Worksop Town maintained their 100 per cent start to the 2018/19 NCEL Premier Division season with a 4-1 win over Liversedge on Tuesday night.
It took a sensational second half fightback for the Tigers to claim their third straight league win, with Tomas Poole pulling them level before Kyle Jordan bagged a hat-trick.
But they made it hard for themselves as Liversedge started the game the stronger, taking the lead just before the break after a defensive error.
Worksop’s Matt Reay accidentally flicked the ball on for Hamilton who slotted his shot past Dave Reay to give the home side the advantage going into half time.
Tigers came out for the second half like a different side to the first. Poole equalised on 51 minutes when the Liversedge keeper deflected Sykes’ poke into his path and the Worksop man stroked the ball into an open net.
There was then a big stoppage in play as the referee went down holding his hamstring. It was the calm before the storm as when play resumed, Jordan was unleashed onto the pitch.
The first of his three came with seven minutes of normal time remaining.
Sykes switched the ball to the right where Simpson picked it up, left his marker for dead, before threading it across to Jordan who wrong footed his marker, took on Jackson, and slammed his shot home.
Three minutes later, Jordan got his second when he rifled Price’s cross into the roof of the net.
Then, in stoppage time, Jordan completed his hat-trick by setting himself up for a volley, which he delivered with pace and accuracy, into the bottom corner.
Worksop are next in action on Sunday (August 26th) at home to Carlton Town in the FA Cup (3pm kick off).
