Key dates for 2021-22 EFL season revealed

The 2021-22 EFL season will kick off on Friday, August 6, it has been revealed.

Key dates for next season’s the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two have been announced.

For most clubs the campaign begins on Saturday, August 7. But one televised match will get the new season rolling the previous evening.

The Sky Bet EFL Play-Offs will once again be staged at Wembley Stadium and conclude the season across two weekends in May.

The League One final will start proceedings on Saturday, May 21 2022, before League Two and the Championship take centre stage the following weekend on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 2022, respectively.

Details regarding the 2021-22 fixture release day will be announced in due course.

League: Saturday, August 7, 2021 (with a live television game likely on Friday, August 6)

Carabao Cup round one – w/c August 9, 2021

Carabao Cup final – Sunday, February 27, 2022

Papa John’s Trophy round one – w/c August 30, 2021

Papa John’s Trophy final – Sunday, April 3, 2022

Regular Season final day:

League One – weekend of April 30, 2022

League Two & Championship – weekend of May 7-8, 202

League One play-off final – Saturday, May 21, 2022

League Two play-off final – Saturday, May 28 2022

Championship play-off final – Sunday, May 29, 2020
