Pemberton spent two years with the world’s oldest football club, Sheffield FC, where he won a league and cup double as captain of the under-19s.

The versatile defender was also a regular for Club’s first team in that time, where he won the young player of the year award in his first season.

And, looking ahead to the meeting between two of English football’s eldest clubs, Pemberton is keen to do well for his current club Worksop.

“I can’t wait to be fair,” said Pemberton. “It will be a good game.

“I played at Sheffield FC for a little while, and a few of the other lads have got ties to them, so we will train midweek and get the lads back together and then we have to put it right on Saturday.”

Tigers were well-beaten last Saturday against BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division leaders Leek Town, in a 3-0 defeat.

It was a game which boss Kyle Jordan didn’t want to read too much into given the progress of his side over the course of his Tigers reign.

“In recent weeks, we have not only let the gaffer down, but we have let each other down and the fans that have travelled to see us – they haven’t stopped singing all game at Leek – and we need to give them something back,” said Pemberton.

“As a collective, we need to dust ourselves down, come together again and get ready for Saturday.

“It is important to get three points on Saturday.

“The teams who are in and around us are the teams that we need to be taking three points off.

“If we want to keep going and see where we finish in the season and aim for the play-offs then we have to win this game.

“We will all be going into that game wanting three points.

“We will approach the game like we approach any game – when we press and when we keep the ball down, we look like a good side.”

Worksop play host to Sheffield FC on Saturday 1st February at Sandy Lane (3pm kick-off).
