More than 850 football mad juniors showcased their talents at a festival to celebrate the beautiful game and raise funds for charity.

The festival, held across the weekend of July 16 and 17, by Worksop Boys & Girls Junior Football Club was the second one put on by organisers.

Saturday saw under-7s, under-10s and under-11s take part , whilst Sunday was under-8s, under-9s and under-12s in action.

There was around 60 teams from over the Sheffield and district junior league, with teams from our own club taking part in every age group.

Worksop’s under-8 Blues were the first team from the club to win the final in their age group.

Tournament organiser Jessica Venners was extremely pleased with the success of the festival and the feedback from teams, referees, managers and families of all players, in what was an enjoyable weekend.

“We also used the event to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital by naming the bear which we have also donated.

“Worksop boys JFC would like to thank BPL for their support during this event and look forward to hosting another great football festival at Outwood Valley School.

“There was also various entertainment from Rascals castles and Eclipse (penalty shootout) and a big thank you to all who were involved in the tuck shop.”
