Housham wants to repay chairman

STEVE Housham wants to achieve success on the pitch to repay outgoing Trinity chairman Peter Swann.

The Blues boss spoke to the Standard and expressed his gratitude for what Swann has done for the club, and the town.

He said: “As I told him, health comes before anything and I just wish him a speedy recovery.”

“He’s put his heart and soul into this club and the town and my aim is to finish what he started and get Gainsborough Trinity as high as possible.”

Housham admitted that his players were looking for answers on the situation, and their future, and he plans to address those concerns at training this week.

“I’ve had a few texts off players, but I will sit down with them on Thursday and talk to them. It shouldn’t be a problem, they’re all on contract until the end of the season.”

“I’ll put myself in their position and tell them that this is a great shop window now, they’ve got to go and prove their worth.”

“The chairman has looked after every player who has come to the club and I’m sure they’ll want to go out and do it for him and stick together.”

The manager is the only one at the club on a contract that extends beyond May 2013, but he’s bullish about his own future.

“I’m a Gainsborough lad and until I’m told otherwise I will continue to work my hardest and do my best for this football club.”

“Times are tough on the pitch at the moment so I’m fighting with everything I’ve got and will continue to do that.”

“I want to repay the chairman for everything he’s done for the club and the town, and that starts on Saturday.”

“We’ll take every day as it comes.”

Trinity visit Vauxhall Motors on Saturday and host Altrincham on Tuesday night.
