Hinsley backs dressing room spirit at Worksop Town

The former Matlock Town and Frickley Athletic player joined the Tigers at the beginning of the month from Grantham Town, and the forward has started the season well, with three goals in his opening three games for the Tigers.

“We have a good team and an unbelievable team spirit, and we have the belief that we won’t get beat which is what every team needs to believe in,” said Hinsley.

“That first 10 minutes we were very poor, but then we got to grips with the game and then we just took off from there.

“It was three great finishes to put us 3-1 up going into the break. The second half, we just did what we had to do; we battled hard and played very well.

“We knew that we had to keep it tight at the back and then we would win the game without conceding. Everyone battled hard to win the game and we were all in it together.

“I saw that the ‘keeper was coming out to close me down and I thought that if I don’t hit it now then the chance is gone, so I was glad to see it roll into the bottom corner.

“I’m enjoying it here at Worksop and I am really enjoying my football. I feel like I am working hard and hoping that everything will fall into place.”

Hinsley’s goal came at an important time for his side against Westfield as the forward took a pass down the right in his stride before sliding the ball past the goalkeeper from a tight angle, meaning the Tigers went into the break comfortably.

Assistant manager Craig Rouse described him as the focal point of the Tigers’ attack.

Rouse said: “He’s just a menace for the opposition and you have seen in the final moments he has carried the ball into the corner and held it away from the opposition; five minutes before that, he was chasing down their keeper and back four.

“He has been brilliant since we brought him in and he has filled the nine-role really well. He has become a good focal point for us and we have been really impressed with him.”
