Worksop Town boss Ryan Hindley was pleased with his players after their pre-season fixture against a young Sheffield United side.
Goals from Jake Currie and Steve McDonnell put Tigers into a comfortable lead only for the travelling Blades to pull level before Jed Phillips bagged the winner for Hindley’s team in a 3-2 success.
“Things came together nicely,” said Hindley. “It worked going more direct. We looked a lot more threatening. You need strings to your bow at this level and changing to 3-4-3 at half-time worked for us.
“Jake Currie was fantastic tonight (Wednesday). It’s great to have him back with us and I believe all the new lads did well so that is pleasing.”
Hindley conducted his half-time team-talk on the Sandy Lane turf which looked to have the desired effect after a goalless first 45 minutes
Hindley added: “We wanted to stay out in the fresh air being such a warm night - there was no other thinking in it to be honest. Either way it worked and we came out of the traps second half and looked really imposing.”
Tigers travel to Shirebrook Town on Saturday (3pm).
