Harry Holland determined to Flourish for Worksop Town

Holland joined Worksop Town at the start of last season after playing in America, impressing in the Under-21s squad before being called up for the first team.

The midfielder made four substitute appearances before making his full debut in a 2-1 win against Athersley Recreation in the Sheffield Senior Cup.

Then, in a draw with Retford FC U21s, Holland picked up an injury which would cut his season short after a flurry of starts for the first team.

“I do feel like I was robbed slightly due to the situation in the world,” said Holland.

“Injuries will always be part of football and they will knock players back now and again, but it is about how you come back and how you react to it and I am definitely feeling a lot stronger.

“At the start of pre-season, I was back to full fitness – I was even training with the Under-21s – and I felt sound.

“During the lockdown period, I was doing a lot of exercise myself and made sure that I was in my peak fitness and ready to perform at the start of pre-season.”

A lot has changed since the premature end to the campaign, with a brand-new 3G pitch being laid at Sandy Lane, as well as the appointment of Parry and a new-look squad.

Holland stated that it was a “privilege” to be retained by the new management team and admitted his excitement to work under him and attempt to claim a starting place.

Holland added: “I am very enthusiastic to work under Craig [Parry].

“Some of the new players have welcomed us all into the squad and playing with all the new lads has been class so far, so I am looking forward to getting started again.

“I feel privileged to return, it is a good club to be at and when you look around at the new facilities, you know it is a great club to be part of and I’m looking forward to getting into the games.

“I can’t wait to play on it [the new surface]. I like to play it simple and keep the ball down and I am looking forward to being able to do it during the season.”
