Gaffer’s gratitude

DINNINGTON Town boss Steve Toyne has spoken of his gratitude for the messages of support that have poured in since he went under the knife last Friday.

The Phoenix Park gaffer had an operation on his spine, and remains in the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

But he hasn’t felt alone in his plight, thanks to well wishers sending their support.

He told the Guardian: “I can’t thank everyone personally, all the people who have called the Resource Centre at Dinnington, so I would like to say thank you to them all.”

“It’s nice that people care, and that they’ve shown that.”

Although Toyne isn’t back on his feet just yet, he’s confident that his football team are still moving forward.

“Mark Ramsden is holding the fort, helped by captain Andy Sykes and local lad Kev Staniland, who runs Worksop Town Under 19s, I’m very appreciative to them.”

Without their boss pitchside, Town drew 2-2 with Rossington Main on Saturday, and visit Eccleshill United this weekend, weather permitting.
