The relationship between Worksop Town FC and the Worksop Guardian is ‘huge’ for the club, according to first team boss Mark Shaw.
Speaking after the unveiling of the Guardian’s new advertising board at Sandy Lane, Shaw said Tigers enjoyed unique coverage in their local paper.
The purchase of the board follows the Guardian’s summer campaign to help save the world’s fourth oldest club, taking a #Team500 membership, securing sponsors and raising awareness of Tigers’ plight.
Shaw said: “The relationship between the club and the Guardian is huge.”
“If you look at a lot of newspapers in other areas, other clubs don’t get anywhere near the coverage we receive – it’s fantastic.”
The manager believes the newspaper acts as a voice for the football club.
“It keeps the town informed on every little thing that happens here,” he said.
“From in depth match reports to the latest news, providing funding and securing sponsors.”
“The Guardian is number one for putting things out there and promoting the club.”
