Fitness and lifestyle will be key for Tigers to stay top of NCEL Premier says midfielder

Worksop Town midfielder James Cottingham believes fitness and lifestyle will play a significant part in the club's NCEL Premier title charge.

Tigers top the table, on goal difference, with only fifth-placed Tadcaster able to overtake them through games in hand.

Their position in the table is perhaps a little surprising given how badly their form dipped in November and December.

But Cottingham insists confidence in the camp remained high.

Speaking after two consecutive 4-0 wins, he said: “As a group we get on really well, we never really get low, we’re all pretty confident in our ability.

“We knew that little dip we had would turn around, and we’ve shown what we can do these last two games.”

He was happy with the display in Saturday’s rout of Parkgate, the second time this season Tigers have beaten them 4-0.

And he says Worksop need to keep themselves in shape if they’re to stay top of the table.

“We played some great football, four goals is always nice and hopefully we can keep doing it,” he said.

“If we keep on training, keep our bodies right, eating right like the manager tells us to, then hopefully we can keep ourselves top.”
