Defeats for SJR Worksop men and women sides

SJR Worksop were beaten 5-4 at Renishaw at the weekend.

But it could have been much worse after they trailed 4-0 at half-time after a number of individual errors and the shape not working.

Worksop made two subs and changed formation at the break, with the team coming out firing for the second half.

Ben Brown pulled a goal back after being picked out by James Cocker.

The energetic Chris Lovett scored, before Thackery grabbed his second with another calm finish.

But it was too late to find an equaliser as the visitors paid the price for a first-half disaster.

SJR Worksop Women were beaten 3-1 at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

With captain Stacie Sands unavailable through illness, Charlotte Finch dropped out of midfield to fill the centre back position and with both Billie Gordon and Sky Hughes in the side SJR looked to have a strong team out .

They certainly created enough chances to put the game beyond Lincoln's reach before half time.

Gordon was denied by the offside flag before Brooke Chapell shot just wide in the early stages.

SJR got their reward on 56 minutes when Shannon Brooks scored from a Chapell corner.

Chapell then hit the bar with a long range effort.

But, on 75 minutes, a lack of communication in the SJR defence allowed Lincoln to take an undeserved lead as Alice Hays had a simple tap in at the far post.

In stoppage time Lincoln increased their lead with a fine goal from an Alice Hays free kick just outside the penalty area.
