Worksop Town announced the midfielder’s departure last Tuesday, but there was no comfirmation of his new club until the weekend, when rumours surfaced among both fanbases.

Neither club has commented publicly on the reasons for the delay, but the Guardian believes it has not been at the Worksop end of the deal.

Nuneaton boss Kev Wilson told the Guardian: “We are hoping it will be concluded tomorrow.”

Elliott is thought to fit the mould of Wilson’s philosophy, finding young talent with a view to developing them for possible Football League moves.

The Carlton-in-Lindrick youngster has been represented in the protracted negotiations by Jake Speight – a former Mansfield and Bradford City striker who is now an FA licensed representative.
