Sandy Lane leaseholder Pete Whitehead has expressed his sadness at Worksop Town’s plight, and suggested there may be a deal to be made to keep Tigers at the ground.
The P&M Leisure supremo, owner of Parramore FC and the man who welcomed Worksop Town back to the home they once owned, spoke to the Guardian on his surprise at Jason Clark’s departure.
“I’m going to be honest, I’m really surprised, having only just had a meeting with the board and renewed the lease for the next 12 months.”
“I’m really sorry to hear that the situation is as it is.”
“I had no inkling at all that this was coming when we met.”
“I’ve said that if there’s anything I can do to help to keep the club on the ground, even if it’s for next to nothing, I would be prepared to do that.”
“It’s very sad.”
