Tigers largely dominated throughout, with players getting more valuable minutes under their belt.

“I think for a lot of people, it’s their first 90 minutes of pre-season,” said Rouse.

“A lot of lads have come with only a certain amount of minutes, so getting players more minutes under the belt was very important.

“We scored three really good goals, but I think we could’ve scored a lot more, so overall, I’m really happy with today’s performance.”

Forward Vaughan Redford grabbed himself a brace today, with his role being slightly deeper than Tuesday night.

And Rouse felt it was a role that Redford could exploit more in the future.

Rouse added: “Vaughan’s worked with us for quite a few years; he’s operated in quite a few different positions for us in the past.

“We know he was capable of dropping into a deeper role. I think when he arrives later into the box, he’s harder to pick up.

"He has gotten two goals for us; he’s worked his way into the box well for both goals.”

After last week’s entertaining 9-3 victory over the U21s, Rouse mentioned the hard work that was drilled into Thursday’s training session before today’s match.

Rouse continued: “We were making sure players knew where they needed to be; like when to get the ball into our front five or when to get the ball forward.

“There are certain areas where we can’t go to sleep. We turned defence into attack and apart from that error from us, I think we would’ve won the game comfortably.”
