Could these youth players soon be a key part of the Worksop Town first team

Worksop Town have seen several youth team players come through the ranks at Sandy Lane before going on to forge solid non-league careers.

In some cases they’ve done even better, with Ben Tomlinson joining League Two outfit Macclesfield Town after several prolific seasons for Worksop.

Aaron Sennett-Neilson (Winger)

Aaron Sennett-Neilson broke into Kyle Jordan’s side towards the end of last season and impressed with the confidence that he demonstrated and the ability that he possessed on the ball. Sennett-Neilson scored in the Tigers’ final game before the COVID-19 outbreak – a 2-0 victory against Chasetown – which sadly meant that the winger was unable to build on his remarkable performances.

I believe that the winger could become an instrumental part of the side due to the flair that he shows when running at defenders which would complement Parry’s philosophy very well.

Joel Cousins (Forward)

Joel Cousins has netted 15 goals in nine games in his first season with the Tigers and I one player, who could potentially be used as a flair player. The forward is quick and seems to be in the correct place at the right time.

Cousins would benefit in a Parry side due to his attack-minded philosophy which is similar to the flair that Ryan Hall likes to implement into the Under-21s.

Zac Walker (Goalkeeper)

Walker has already featured for Worksop’s first team, predominantly in the Sheffield Senior Cup competitions where he has impressed. Coming into his debut season off the back of a long-term injury, Walker has grown more in confidence as each game passes and would be a great potential understudy for Parry’s number one next season.

Bobby Thompson (Midfielder)

The midfielder has improved immensely in the youth teams since first being picked up by Aiden Spowage in 2018. Thompson is a busy midfielder, who is not afraid to put his body on the line for his teammates. His work rate could be useful for the first team, who have stated that they require players with a “high-level of fitness,” something that Thompson possesses.

Callum Riley (Defender)

Callum Riley is an attacking right-back who likes to get forward and whip balls into the middle. Riley is another who thrived on Hall’s fast-flowing football. The former Sheffield FC defender could become a key player in Parry’s side should that right-back spot become available.
