Clark banking on home advantage

WORKSOP Town are hoping home advantage will prove the difference in tonight’s first qualifying round FA Trophy replay against Bradford Park Avenue.

Tigers started sluggishly in Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to their Evo-Stik Premier rivals, but manager Simon Clark believes his side can take confidence in earning the replay.

Speaking to the Guardian, Clark said: “We allowed them to control the game for the first 25 minutes.”

“Although they didn’t create a number of chances it was the first time we had been dominated.”

“We looked half a yard off the pace. Second half we looked more how we expect us to be and created chances.”

A Mark Hudson penalty put Tigers ahead but the home side responded quickly to force a replay at Sandy Lane.

“They will not enjoy coming to Worksop,” Clark added. “They will have one eye on the FA Cup.”

BPA will play in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday and the mid-week match has disrupted their preparations.

Meanwhile, the winners of tonight’s encounter will travel to Radcliffe Borough in the next round of the FA Trophy.
