The former Nottingham Forest youngster joined the club from Coalville Town in the summer and after just a few games into pre-season, the centre-half picked up a hamstring injury in Worksop’s loss to Maltby Main.

Jemson had to bide his time to get back into the side, getting his chance against Westfields FC in the FA Cup, where he helped his side come from behind to win 3-1, with Jemson putting in an astute display on his competitive debut.

“I had a few games, from which I thought I did alright in, but then I took a little hamstring injury against Maltby which I was gutted about because I was just starting to enjoy my football again,” said Jemson.

“Picking up the injury meant I was out for around two-to-three weeks and I had got myself into good shape before, so I had to get fit again and it was very frustrating.

“The lads did very well whilst I was away, so I had to wait for my time and took to the bench, but I got an opportunity to play and the last four games I think I have done well – I want to keep my shirt now.

“I have enjoyed my time here so far; I love the way we play and I love the way he [Craig Parry] gets everyone up for a match because every game is a fight and we believe in ourselves and our ability because we don’t fear anyone.”

The defender believes that Worksop have what it takes to be competitive this season after starting the season with two wins from two games in the league, as well as two victories in the FA Cup, exiting on penalties against Chester FC.

He continued: “I think that if we aren’t right up there, looking for promotion, then we will have had a bad season.

“When you watched the Chester manager’s interview from the game on Saturday, he was speaking very highly of us.

“He said that he thinks we will have a good season and you just get that vibe that the lads are a good bunch and with the way that we play, we can play teams off the park early and dominate this league.”
