Striker Chris Porter has joined Colchester United after his Sheffield United contract was terminated earlier today, the Bramall Lane club have announced.
Porter leaves United after three and a half years in South Yorkshire, scoring 23 goals in 118 appearances.
“We wish Chris all the best with the next chapter of his career,” United boss Nigel Clough said.
“He played a substantial role in our FA Cup exploits last year but it has not worked out this season.
“We have worked with Chris at Derby and Sheffield United and he leaves on good terms.”
Porter scored twice in United’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest last season, which helped them reach the semi-finals at Wembley.
