Boys back in action

The successful Bassetlaw Boys squad will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Birmingham to take part in a 12 association Futsal Festival.

Futsal is a variation of five-a-side football recognised and supported by FIFA and UEFA which is played at professional level throughout Europe and South America and has Spain and Brazil as its two currently ranked top nations.

Bassetlaw is one of twelve associations from the length and breadth of the country invited to play in a festival sponsored by the Premier League and organised by the Bath association.

Two sessions to familiarise the boys with the speed and format of the game have been held under the auspices of Matt Handley of the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA Development team.

The competing associations are Bassetlaw, Bath, Bootle, Bromsgrove and Droitwich, Chester, Loughborough, Kettering, Orpington, Plymouth, South London, Torbay and West Wiltshire who will play in the purpose built Birmingham Futsal Arena.

Bassetlaw’s invited squad is George Atkinson (Clarborough); Adam Duffy, Kieron Hooley (Kingston Park); Finn Sweetnam (Holy Family); Josh Robson (Bracken Lane); Liam Frost, Josh Hooton (Sir Edmund Hillary); Ethan Warner, Ryan Dixon, Lewis Comley (Redlands); Luke Smith (Norbridge); Luke Carey (Carr Hill); Alex Bennett (St Joseph’s); Regan Watkinson (St Augustine’s) Curtis Coulson (Ryton Park); Jack Wilson (Harworth CE). Staff: Messrs Pressley, Tarr, Bacon, Lambley.

Transport will be by mini-bus and cars leaving the Worksop Priory Car Park at 7.45am prompt.
