Blunders cost Worksop Town again

WORKSOP Town are still without a win this season, as they went down 2-1 away at Northwich Victoria today.

Yet again defensive errors cost Tigers badly, and after seven games of the season they find themselves with just two points.

Victoria took the lead from a corner on six minutes, after Tigers lost out in two challenges down the left and failed to defend the set-piece, Ryan Wade hooking the ball home on the turn.

Worksop hit back 21 minutes in from a free-kick, Marc Roberts heading on to Dennis Sherriff who saw his own header creep in at the far post.

But four minutes before the interval a shocking mix-up between Roberts and Chris Wood allowed Wade to nip in and loft the ball over Jon Worsnop for his second and what turned out to be the winner.

Chances for the visitors were few and far between in a disjointed and disappointing display, while Worsnop was needed to make several vital stops and James Cotterill cleared one off the line.

Tigers host Buxton on Wednesday at Sandy Lane at 7.45pm.
