The A squad swept aside Gloucester and Scarborough in the group matches with Jaden Thackery, Daniel Scott, Corrie Cole, Billy Simpkins and Adam Ostler sharing the honours in outfield play and goalkeeper Owen Law keeping two clean sheets.

The B squad looked comfortable against Gloucester as Ethan Hibbert gave them a 2-0 lead but then almost let the win slip away as the opposition came from behind to take the lead

Fortunately Diesel Webb was on hand to clinch a last minute equaliser that gave them a place in an all-Bassetlaw final.

The final saw captain Jacob Reynolds lead his B team to a 3-1 victory as Charlie Smith, Harvey Rodgers and Caden Burton controlled the game and Thomas Bradley gave an outstanding display of goalkeeping.

Bassetlaw completed an excellent weekend’s work with a nine-a-side defeat of Scarborough the following day, Jaden Thackery, Daniel Scott, Billy Simpkins and Macauley Cole sharing the goals.

Grateful thanks go to referees Peter Kenworthy and Mary Paton, Tom Ramsey at Worksop Leisure Centre, Paul Wilson at Harworth Colliery Football Club and the Station Hotel for making the event possible.

East Markham Girls will be the first to compete for a place in the Midland Counties Finals on Saturday when as Bassetlaw champions they represent the district in the Nottinghamshire County Girls Individual Schools Championship Finals in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
