Former World Player of the Year Xavi Hernandez has been speaking about Sheffield United in an interview with ESPN.
The Spaniard, who won the Champions League four times during his time at FC Barcelona, was being quizzed about his love of European lower league football.
The 35-year-old World Cup winner told ESPN: "I met a boy the other day. English. He was wearing a Barca shirt but I asked him who he supported.
"He said: 'Sheffield United.'
"I know them. They have 20,000 fans in the third division. That's incredible."
The midfield maestro, who currently plies his trade with Al Sadd in Qatar, played 505 times for Barcelona during a glittering spell with the Catalonian club between 1998 and 2015.
He was capped by his country 133 times, and scored 13 goals at international level. He has two European Championship winning medals in addition to his World Cup winning medal.
