Darryn Stamp will add the role of assistant boss to his on field duties as a striker.

The veteran, somewhat of a fan favourite on the Northolme, explained his reasons for returning for another season.

He said: “Although the assistant manager position was a factor, it was really about enjoying my football.”

“Knowing Housh as well as I do, I know the spirit he generates in the dressing room.”

Joining Stamp in recommitting to the Blues is central midfielder Simon Russell, who impressed after coming into the side midway through last season.

And perhaps most surprising of all is the signing of Brad Barraclough, a highly touted striker who joined from Lincoln City during the last campaign.

The new boy is Liam Davis, a 22-year-old who makes the move from Brigg Town.

Last season he played 46 times for Housham’s former club, scoring 14 goals.

He said: “The club approached me after they watched a couple of games last year.”

“It’s nice to make a step up and I’ve been waiting for a chance.”
