The Sandy Lane leaseholders have announced that they’re seeking to combine forces with Handsworth.

And this week, manager Darren Bland confirmed he was stepping down due to other commitments.

In a statement on Parramore’s website, details were released of a merger that could take 12 months to complete.

The statement said: “During the coming year, both clubs will work and run in parallel and will take advice from the NCEL, S&HCFA and the FA so that a merger which may possibly take up to a year, can be achieved to best effect for all parties concerned.”

Parramore will continue to ply their trade in Worksop, while Handsworth’s senior side will remain at their Oliver’s Mount ground.

But it looks likely that the merged club will eventually make Sheffield their home.

The statement added: “It is expected that a new facility to grade “C” standard will be ready for the 2014/2015 season at Oliver’s Mount, where the current NCEL team will play their home games.”

The new club will not involve Parramore manager Bland however.

He said: “Growing demands at work have made the task of managing such a great progressive club difficult over the last few weeks and the job deserves 100 per cent commitment of which I am unable to offer at this moment in time.”

“I would like to thank all the players and staff for their efforts and give a special mention to the chairman Pete Whitehead.”
