All change at Sandy Lane. . .

JUST seven games into the season it’s all change at Worksop Town.

Club owner Jason Clark has given his vote of confidence to under fire first team boss Simon Clark, and he in turn has promised to shake up his squad.

Friday’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Frickley Athletic was followed by angry protests from a section of the Tigers fanbase, but chairman Clark says it’s too early for a managerial swap.

His namesake, who says the flak he’s taking from supporters is understandable, told the Guardian he is working hard on improving the squad.

Speaking after a 2-1 friendly win, behind closed doors at Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday, Clark said there will be player movement in the coming weeks.

“There aren’t any departures at the moment but there will be,” he said.

“The chairman is frustrated, like the supporters, like I am, like Frecks and the players are, and he wants improvements.”

“My job is to find solutions to that, he wants an improvement in results and I’ll endeavour to do that.”

“I know what I’ve got to bring in and I’m working hard.”

“I know we’re not doing well enough and it’s my responsibility to do all I can to change it.”

A boost for Tigers ahead of Saturday’s visit of Stafford Rangers is the return of Ash Burbeary from Victoria Highlanders in Canada.

Clark expects the forward to get international clearance from the Canadian FA in order to make his first appearance of the season.

Another possible returnee is centre-half Kern Miller, who featured on Tuesday but has not yet agreed a deal with the club.

The Guardian understands that Tigers have put seven day approaches in for another two players, and are hopeful of negotiating a loan deal for a striker.

The manager was delighted to see Burbeary back in action in the midweek friendly.

He said: “Ash looked very, very bright, he’s kept himself in shape and he’s certainly got 75 minutes in him.”

Tigers host Stafford tomorrow (Saturday) and travel to Hednesford Town on Tuesday night, although may be without the services of striker Leon Mettam who is struggling with a hamstring injury.
