Alex Pursehouse has joined the club following spells with Kilmarnock and Brechin City in Scotland, and Tigers are waiting for his clearance to play.

The 21-year-old arrived at Sandy Lane thanks to his friendship with goalkeeper Adam Billard.

He explained: “I left Kilmarnock in February and went to Division Two side Brechin City, to get some games under my belt.”

“Over the summer I’ve kept myself fit, but money is tight and it’s hard to find clubs.”

“I knew Adam Billard, he said they needed a right-back here, I spoke to Mark Shaw and I’m just glad to get the opportunity to get back into football.”

Pursehouse is expected to make the right-back berth his own, after a couple of solid performances in friendly games.

And the Sheffield-based youngster feels at home already.

“The lads are great and I’m happy to be playing again,” he told the Guardian.

“A lot of the boys I know from being a Sheffield lad, I’ve played with some of them, like Phil Roe at Sheffield United.”

“It’s been easy to settle in.”

Pursehouse, who made his professional debut against Old Firm side Celtic, has ambitions to get to a higher level of football again.

But he hopes to do so by impressing at Sandy Lane.

“I’m looking forward to getting started and seeing what this league is about.”

“Everyone wants to play as high as they can, I’m just going to try and do well for Worksop Town and hopefully Worksop can do well for me.”

“I’m going to work hard, you never know what can happen in football,” he added.
