First race of season

THE first race of Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club’s season took place on Sunday, the five-miler starting and ending near the St. Margaret’s home in Marton.

First home was Joe Nash in 13 minutes 16 seconds; 2, Gwaine Clark 14-12; 3, Matt Hindmarsh 14-14; 4, Liam Hindmarsh (juvenile) 14-28; 5, Derek Sanderson 14-32; 6, Joe Noble (juvenile) 14-37; 7, Trevor Halstead 15-02; 8, Andy Clarke 15-50; 9, Gerald Buckle 15-58; 10, Roy Watson 17-40. Private trials (non-club members): 1, Mark Marsland (Trent Valley Road Club) 12-00; 2, Carl Godley (Lincs Quad) 12-05; 3, Andy Lewin (TVRC) 12-14; 4, Neil Winter (Lincoln Wheelers) 12-18; 5, Rob Gilfoyle (Lincs Tri) 12-44; 6, Toney Ditchburn (Manyett Tri) 13-11; 7, Kevin Bilclife (TVRC) 15-36; 8, D. Wren 18-32.

The club’s leisure ride was a figure of eight and was enjoyed by Daniel Nicholson, Colin Smith, David Chaffey, Pete Hanks and Joe Smith (15).

The afternoon 45-mile ride was enjoyed by Trevor Halstead, Colin Smith and Joe Smith (15), with Daniel Nicholson riding as far as Beckingham.

On 1st April there is a leisure ride to Walesby – meet at Roseway, Gainsborough, 8.50am.

On 4th April there are 15-mile and juvenile eight-mile races starting on Laughton Lane - riders meet 6.15pm.
