Duo take part in charity ride

Starting from Brian Rourke Cycles in Stoke-on-Trent, the ride included the infamous seven-mile Cat and Fiddle climb.

With over 1000 cyclists entered, it was a busy scene at the start, not helped by patchy fog which dogged the early miles, as big groups of riders gradually began to thin out.

The route went out through Congleton and on to Macclesfield, where the start of the Cat and Fiddle climb began.

It was at this point that the fog finally cleared, leaving a beautiful sunny day with spectacular scenery, as long lines of riders made their way up the climb each at their own pace. At the top everyone was reunited with their mates at the Cat and Fiddle pub, before an exhilarating descent down towards Buxton, turning right on to the A53 road to Leek, and immediately on to the climb up Axe Edge.

Riders cycled along the ridge and then took in a super fast descent past the Roaches and Winking Man rocks to Leek, where a final lumpy 13 miles took riders back to the finish in Stoke-on-Trent.
