Worksop go top of division with crushing win over Lea & Roses

Worksop went top of Division One A of the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League after a commanding 116 run win over Lea & Roses.

Conor Smith fell agonisingly short of a century after being left on 99 not out in Worksop’s 210/6 score.

Lea & Roses didn’t come close to denying Worksop their second win of the season after collapsing to 94 all out.

And Worksop’s II made it a good weekend with a nine wicket win at Ordsall Bridon in Division 3A.

The home side were bowled out for 130 with John Smith (4-35) doing the damage.

Isaac Bailey hit a steady 63 not out, backed up by Anthony Rea (31), as Worksop cruised to victory.

In Division 2A Retford were unable to chase down 164 after they were bowled out for 105 against Anston II.

Clumber Park secured a three wicket win at The Metcalfe Ground over Everton in Division 1A.

Everton posted 179/7 before Gareth Beard (46) and Oliver Dean (35) got Clumber Park over the line.

Elsewhere in the league, Thoresby Colliery went top of the Championship A table following an eight wicket win over Ordsall Bridon.

Jack Willis took 4-27 as Thorseby bowled Ordsall out for just 120.

Those runs were knocked off with ease with John Skinner making 54 not out and Adam Walters 47 not out.

Welbeck maintained their perfect start to their Championship B division campaigns in a rain-affected match with an emphatic 144 win over Farnsfield’s first team.

Welbeck made 199/9 despite the best efforts of Liam Delaney (3-65). Farnsfield crumbled in reply and could only made 55/5.
