Worksop CC slip to third in standings

Worksop CC suffered a 15-run defeat when they hosted Clumber Park on Saturday, which saw the visitors leapfrog them to go second in the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League.

While Worksop slipped to third, they sit two points behind Clumber Park and six behind leaders Bawtry.

The visitors were reduced to 84 for 7 off their 40 overs, before Worksop were dismissed for 69 after 33 overs.

James Davies (18), Edward Foulds (17) and Mark Dean (13) were the leading scorers for Clumber Park, while Harry Taylor's 3 for 21 saw him be the pick of the Worksop bowlers.

Tim Smith (2 for 19), Arron Armitage and Saeed Ahmed added further wickets.

With the bat, Worksop openers Jake Hogan (11) and Benjamin Swales were both sent back to the pavilion after reaching double figures.

Taylor's 26 gave Worksop some hope, but Luke Bircumshaw (4 for 11) led the way with the ball as Clumber Park claimed the win.

Isaac Bailey hit and unbeaten 83 as Worksop Seconds secured a four-wicket victory at Rockware in Division 3-A.

Christian Beaumont, Liam Cairns and Lee Edmondson took two wickets apiece as the hosts ended their 40 overs on 152-7.

Opener Bailey was backed up by Adam Coxhill (18), Tom Ducey (15), Beaumont (14) and Edmondson (13) as Worksop reached 154-6 in the 38th over.

The Thirds’ contest at home to Langwith was abandoned.

Langwith had posted 144-4, the contest ending with Worksop on 9 without loss.

The Sunday side were beaten by two runs at T horesby Colliery.
