Worksop in bottom spot

Worksop remain rooted to the bottom of the Notts Premier table after a dismall defeat at the hands of Clifton.

Playing at Clifton Village, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat. Scott McNeill top scored with 86 and was well supported by Tom Lungley (67), James Taylor (33) and Richard Harris (30) as they went on to post an impressive 293-9. Wayne Spooner took 3-48.

Needing a run rate of almost six an over, Worksop were always fighting an uphill battle. Gareth Pursehouse top scored with 38 not out.

Adam Shepherd completed a superb day with the ball, ending with figures of 8-32 off nine overs, including four wickets in four balls to see of Worksop’s tail.

The visitors notching just 66 runs in reply after just 17 overs.
