Worcestershire turn the screw on Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge

Having enjoyed precious little good fortune, with the ball, earlier in the day, they took eight wickets during the afternoon session as Nottinghamshire slipped from 159-4 to 240 all out.

Resuming, after lunch, on 102-2, the host county lost James Taylor, lbw to Joe Leach for 8, at 108-3 and half centurion Brendan Taylor, caught at mid off by Ed Barnard, off the bowling of Jack Shantry, at 140-4.

Taylor, who was dropped at gully on 25, before lunch, hit nine fours in his 120-ball 69.

With the bit between their teeth, Worcestershire pressed home their afternoon advantage by taking four wickets within the space of 33 balls.

Charlie Morris sent back Samit Patel, Chris Read and Brett Hutton in quick succession before Ben Hilfenhaus edged Barnard to Alex Gidman at first slip.

Riki Wessels did his best to provide an even keel and duly posted his half century, with his ninth four, off the final ball of the 62nd over.

He and Andy Carter added 50 for the 10th wicket before Wessels was caught at deep mid wicket off the bowling of Saeed Ajmal for 69.
