VIDEO: NPL round-up: Farnsfield off bottom, Kimberley see off Cuckney, Ordsall Bridon crushed by Academy

Farnsfield chose to bat first, a 60-run stand between Callum McKenzie and Matthew Sisson (41) taking them to 66-2, though at 84-4 they were in a touch of peril.

Curtis Mitchell (35) then teamed with James Smith to add 87 for the fifth wicket.

Smith went to make 60 as the innings closed on 209-8, Jonathan Ball the leading bowler with 3-46. Welbeck’s reply never got going as they slumped to 98 all out inside 35 overs, thanks to Andrew Bell, with 3-27, and David Loveridge, with 5-25, the win lifting Farnsfield off the bottom of the table.

At Cuckney, the hosts began the day in third, but ended it in sixth as in-form Kimberley Institute inflicted a seven-wicket defeat that lifted them to fifth.

Kimberley won the toss and asked their hosts to bat, Adam Burgess’ 32 lifting them to 47 without loss.

Alex King and Chris Glover then took over, the 10 wickets falling for the addition of just 61 further runs. Glover took 3-26, but King claimed the honours with 6-30.

Kimberley’s reply was faltering at 32-3 when Sam Johnson joined Shaun Levy at the crease to allay any fears, Johnson finishing on 40 not out, with Levy 52 not out as victory was achieved in the 19th over.

The Notts Academy moved into third spot in the table after a rapid win over Ordsall Bridon at Lady Bay.

The home side won the toss, asking their visitors to bat.

Wickets fell early and often, only Sufian Munir (34) able to provide any resistance as Reicko Parker-Cole (4-25) and Ben Kitt (3-29) saw Bridon dismissed for just 90 inside of 25 overs.

Joe New led the Academy to a seven-wicket win dominating the innings with an unbeaten 50, reaching the target in the 19th over.

The West Indian Cavaliers lifted themselves into fourth with a five-wicket win at home to Radcliffe-on-Trent.

The away side won the toss and opted to bat first, but at 41-3 found themselves in a spot of bother. Ben Carr (46) combined with Jake Fish (56) to put on 99 and take the score to 140, but once they were removed, Kafeel Shafique took over.

Shafique snaffled 7-58 as Radcliffe lost their last seven wickets for just 41 runs to close on 181 all out.

That the Cavs were able to chase down the target inside of 30 overs was largely down to their opening pair, Akhil Patel scoring 71 and Usman Afzaal 76 in a stand of 140 to break the back of the chase.

Jacob Deavin-Baker sparked a brief collapse with 3-27, but couldn’t prevent the result.

Caythorpe stretched their lead at the top with a 62-run win over second-placed Plumtree when the top two went head to head at Caythorpe.

The visitors won a rare toss and asked the hosts to bat. With Glen Read in typically miserly form, claiming 4-22 from his 11 overs, Caythorpe were in deep trouble at 68-6.

Enter Caleb Mierkalns once again as he added 78 to his century from the first meeting, putting on a stand of 97 with Jim Hindson to help lift the Caythorpe total.

Nathan Rimmington mopped up the tail to finish with 6-65 as the home side finished 175 all out. Plumtree’s reply got off to a solid start with 43 on the board before home skipper Jim Hemmings got going. He claimed 5-34 as Plumtree fell to 63-6.

Unlike their hosts, they didn’t have a Caleb Mierkalns to come in, and the innings fell away to a finish at 113 all out.

Clifton Village arrested their recent slide, leapfrogging Attenborough into eighth in the process with a 62-run win over the Squirrels.

Clifton’s 209-5 total centred on a stand of 88 for the third wicket between Martin Weightman (45) and Richard Harris and Harris carried his bat for 92 not out.

Adam Shepherd kept pecking away at the Attenborough line up, finishing with 5-61 as the visitors struggled to get to grips with the chase, only a breezy, run-a-ball 46 from Muhammad Usman threatening to derail the victory celebrations.

At Langwith Road: CUCKNEY (1) 108 (A. Burgess 32; A. King 6-30, C. Glover 3-26) lost to KIMBERLEY (20) 110-3 (S. Levy 52*, S. Johnson 40*) by seven wickets.

At Station Lane: FARNSFIELD (20) 209-8 (J Smith 60, M Sisson 41; Jonathan Ball 3-46) beat WELBECK (3) 98 (D Loveridge 5-25, A Bell 3-27) by 111 runs.

At Lady Bay: ORDSALL BRIDON (1) 90 (H. Appleyard 34; R. Parker-Cole 4-25, B. Kitt 3-29) lost to NOTTS ACADEMY (20) 92-3 (J. New 50*) by seven wickets.

At Birchover Park: RADCLIFFE-ON-TRENT (4) 181 (J. Fish 56, B. Carr 46; K. Shafique 7-58) lost to WEST INDIAN CAVALIERS (20) 184-5 (U. Afzaal 76, A. Patel 71; J. Deavin-Baker 3-27) by five wickets.
