Rose Leisure get back on winning trail
Marshalls’ Championship match at Retford did go ahead but they probably wished it hadn’t as they slumped to yet another defeat.
Batting first, Marshalls were all out for 139 with only James Deacon (41) troubling the Retford bowlers.
The hosts did not have it all their own way when it was their turn to bat but, despite fine bowling performances from Gary Andrews (3-27) and Sam Carlon (3-35), they passed the Marshalls’ total with four wickets left.
North Wheatley with Leverton had to be content with a weather draw at Harthill.
The home team scored 184 for six in their innings and Wheatley were on 10-0 before play had to be abandoned.
In Division One Everton’s home game against Clipstone saw a run feast with the visitors amassing 242 for three and in reply Everton had to be content with a losing draw as they had made 180 for seven (Richard Chambers 63, Dan Brighton 55 not out) when the overs ran out.
Wiseton’s match at Clumber Park was a victim of the weather conditions, as was Lea Park’s home match against Thoresby Park in Division Two.
In Division Four Rose Leisure got back on the winning trail with a five-wicket win at Wadworth.
They restricted the hosts to 116 for nine with Grahan Clay taking 3-16, and then a fine unbeaten half century from John Titley helped Roses reach their winning target.
Marshalls II’s scheduled match on Middlefield Lane against Blidworth was cancelled, as was Everton II’s match away at Woodsetts.
Misterton’ Division Five encounter at Anston saw the hosts reach 79-3 before the match was abandoned as a weather draw, while North Wheatley with Leverton II’s home match against Mansfield Hosiery Mills III was cancelled.
It was an embarrassing day for Wiseton II in Division Six at Wiseton Hall when visitors Weston skittled them out for just 31 runs before passing that total for the loss of two wickets.
