Pujara, the Indian Test batsman who is making his home debut for Notts, has reached 85 not out, having put on 116 so far with the left-hander, who has on 53.

Gloucestershire spurned a golden opportunity to end the stand in its infancy, with Will Tavare spilling a regulation chance at point when Lumb had only scored 12.

In his three previous first class innings at Trent Bridge, Pujara has scored 38 and 55 for India and 57 for Yorkshire and he reached his latest Nottingham half century from 84 balls.

Lumb, who was scratchy at the start of his knock, began to blossom in the heat of the afternoon sun and reached his first championship 50 of the season from 98 balls, with nine fours.
