Poor batting brings defeat for North Wheatley

The visitors batted first and were bowled out for 177, with Callum Harrison putting in a fine bowling performance with 6 for 55.

But when the hosts batted, they were all out for 118.

But it was better news for the local teams in Division One as both Everton and Wiseton recorded victories.

Everton were very impressive in their home game against Whitwell. They restricted the visitors to 165 for 7 Dan Leach and Jon Mimms both claiming three wickets, and then passed that total for the loss of just two wickets with Mimms also starring with the bat with 67 and Elton Moulds contributing a useful 49 not out.

Wiseton cruised to a nine-wicket victory at Wiseton Hall against Killamarsh as they skittled the visitors out for just 86 (James Moss 5 for 14) and then Matt Loates with 38 and Moss on 32 saw them ease past that score.

The winning streak continued in Division Three when Lea Park entertained Edwinstowe at Middlefield Lane and won by six wickets.

Edwinstowe batted first and were restricted to 118 for nine, Andrew Orton taking 6 for 30, and then Andrew Dewick (41) and Lee Mardle (36) steered Lea Park to victory.

In Division Four Rose Leisure were the area’s only winners when they hosted Notts and Arnold Amateur III and managed a narrow 27-run win.

Roses batted first and scored a none-too-impressive 109 but they were thankful that their bowlers Michael Spencer with 3 for 15 and Graham Clay with 3 for 16 were on form and the visitors could only manage 82.

Marshalls visited Shireoaks and were beaten by five wickets, Shaun Metcalfe scoring a defiant 38 as the Gainsborough side could only manage 123 for 6 in their overs and then the hosts comfortably reached their target.

Everton were well beaten at Anston, scoring just 99 for 9 and then seeing the hosts win by a six-wicket margin, while North Wheatley with Leverton II fell to a disappointing 44-run defeat at Worksop, bowling the hosts out for 110 but then managing just 66 runs in their innings.

In Division Five Misterton recorded another victory, this time away to Whitwell II.

Andy Harlow (53) and Mark Boscolo (35) helped them to 169 for 6 and they managed to bowl the hosts out for 140 for a 29-run victory.

Wiseton II continue to struggle in Division Six, this time losing by 154 runs away to Rockware.

The hosts hit an impressive 216 for 6 and then bowled Wiseton out for just 62 runs.
