Peter Moores says T20 win will give Notts Outlaws a spring in their step next season

Notts Outlaws head coach Peter Moores says his side will return to training with a spring in their step.

The Outlaws ended the 2020 campaign on a high after lifting their second Vitality Blast T20 title.

And Moores believes the victory will give his side plenty of belief going into their title defence.

“It gives us confidence and is a reward for the whole season and the winter training we put in,” he said.

“The lads are fitter and worked hard. We have learnt better ways of connecting as a group.

“We have merged a team together and that has been key.

“The momentum went through the season and it just shows you can get there if you work hard.

“Some of the lads won it in 2017 and there is enough mileage and young players in this team who can play in this format for Notts for a long time.”

But Moores knows his players must keep up that hard work in order for their abilities to keep shining.

“The first thing is to have the break and when we come back we will come back with a spring in a step,” he said.

“The hard work pays off, maybe not straight away and you have to be patient, but if you keep doing it you will get your reward.

“We saw that through the season at different times with different players.

“It feels great, it always does at the moment you win. There is a relief and joy at the time.

“Waking up the day after you wake up with a lovely feeling that the effort we put in paid off and we won a trophy.

“We just said to play our style and to play the moment in front of us.”
