Ordsall Bridon secure safety, Retford chase promotion

Ordsall Bridon took Notts Premier survival matters into their own hands with a comfortable seven wicket win that ensured they avoided the drop.

Bridon won the toss at Rolls Royce Leisure and put the hosts in to bat, who were soon 205 for 6 and looking well set.

However once Gurpej Landa fell the final four wickets added a further 25 to set Bridon a target of 231.

Tim Miles took 4 for 46, with Matt Makings claiming 3 for 39 and Aqab Ahmed 2 for 52.

In reply, Paul van den Huevel hit 43 from an opening stand of 175 as Tim Miles tore into Rolls bowling.

Miles made 152 from just 104 balls, smacking 14 fours and 12 sixes, as Ordsall cruised to their target in the 34th over.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills were the side to fall through the relegation trap door.

Retford can secure second place and promotion in Bassetlaw Division One if they win at home to Whitwell on Saturday.

They’re 16 points ahead of Blidworth and 15 points ahead of Firbeck with one game remaining.

Last weekend Retford smashed West Indian Cavaliers II by 97 runs.

Chandra Kumara was unbeaten on 103 runs and then took 4 for 43.
