Notts Prem Preview: Kimberley look to wrap up title

Kimberley Institute who have not lost in 12 weeks and have dropped just five points, in that run head to Clifton Village in search of the three points they need to sew up the title.

The Villagers have lost their last three matches and have gone five without a win.

Last time around, Tom Rowe’s 4 for 25 and a 48 from Shaun Levy led Kimberley to a five wicket win as they began a remarkable charge fro, seventh in the table to the top.

Plumtree, the only team with a mathematical chance at pipping Kimberley, visit Farnsfield who themselves need as many points as possible to avoid finishing in the bottom two.

They are 25 points adrift of Ordsall Bridon so will need help. Neither side has been consistent of late, achieving just one win between them in the last five weeks.

The reverse fixture saw Glen Read take 5 for 24 as Plumtree won by 192 runs.

Cuckney have quietly moved into third after back to back wins, and head to Ordsall on Saturday.

The right combination of results could see them secure NPL status for next season. Indeed, just one point will condemn Attenborough to bottom two status. Ordsall beat then leaders Cuckney by 54 runs in their last meeting with Sufian Munir’s 119 not out and four wickets each for Martyn Long and Gary Andrews clinching the win.

Nottinghamshire Academy, who are another side rising up the table, take on the side directly below them at Caythorpe.

Both sides will be looking to finish as high as possible, and both can still realistically finish as runners up.

Their previous match up ended in a winning draw for Caythorpe as the Academy tail wagged just enough.

West Indian Cavaliers are second in the wins table, but their lack of consistency sees them just sixth in the points table.

They host an Attenborough side who held them to a draw last time out.

It’s been a tale of two halves for Attenborough this season. After reaching the season’s mid-point with 102 points, they have managed just 42 in the nione games since.

The final match of the day, sees Radcliffe-on-Trent host Welbeck.

Both sides are playing purely for league position, with Welbeck the only one of the two who can finish in the top half of the table.

Tom Lungley (6 for 39) and Andrew Parkin-Coates (79 not out) paced Welbeck to a seven wicket win in their home leg and will be hoping for more of the same.
