Notts’ Mick is speaker

Director of Cricket at Notts, Mick Newell, is the guest speaker at the Bassetlaw Umpires Association’s next meeting on 1st February.

Mick represented Notts between 1984 and 1992, was awarded his county cap in 1987 and a benefit in 1999.

His finest season was in 1987 when he scored 1,054 first class runs at an average of 39.03 and his highest score was an unbeaten 203 against Derbyshire.

In 1992 he became second team manager and captain and moved on to become first team coach in 2002.

He led Notts to the County Championship in 2005 and 2010 and the Division Two title in 2004.

His latest honour was in leading Notts to the YB Pro 40 cup in 2013.

The meeting will be held at the Cuckney Cricket Centre, Langwith Road, Cuckney, at 2.30pm.
