Low scoring affair for Lea Park

Division Three

Lea Park 119 for 4

Edwinstowe II 118 for 9

A damp and green wicket at Marshalls ensured this would be a low scoring affair, and Lea were disappointed to allow Edwinstowe to make 118 for 9.

An ordinary batting display by the opposition was helped by Lea dropping catch after catch and missing clears cut run outs.

Andy Orton picked up 6 for 30 from 10-overs and Andy Dewick bowled 13-overs and returned 2 for 16 despite having two slip catches dropped in the space of three balls.

A first for many people was witnessed during this game as Matt Housham bowled his full 13 overs for many years.

All the Lea bowlers looked like taking wickets but with so many chances not taken, perhaps did not deserve to get the full 10-wickets.

Rain interruptions halted a comprehensive victory for Lea as the Marshall’s wicket livened up tremendously but Lee Mardle (33) and Dewick (41) saw Lea home by seven wickets.

Special mention must also go to the Lea Park tea ladies who provide some of the best teas in the league on a weekly basis.
