Defeats for Woodsetts and Anston second teams

DIVISION SIX

Woodsetts II 184 for 4

Rockware Glass 185 for 4

ROCKWARE continued their run of good form with a win at near neighbours Woodsetts.

Woodsetts batted first and suffered an early setback when opener R. Wooton was bowled by Greg Atherton for no runs.

When fellow opener Steeple was run-out for 12 Rockware appeared to be in the driving seat.

But a fine partnership between D. Crookes (85) and A. Mosley (57) brought the hosts back into the game until both fell late on bowled by Atherton (3 for 49).

Rockware opener Rich Eccles took responsibility for the run chase from the start, forging good partnerships with Paul Allison (20) and young prospect Kyle Wesley (30), but it was Eccles who remained a constant.

Kev Sanders blasted a quick and unbeaten 25 to put the Glass on the brink of victory when Eccles was caught behind off the bowling of Hughes for 72.

Carl Lake (5*) hit the winning runs with a straight four to give Rockware the win.

DIVISION TWO

Anston II 126 all out

Firbeck 127 for 0

FIRBECK had mixed fortunes over the Bank Holiday weekend, losing to Farnsfield in the last over on Saturday, but coming back for a good win over Anston on Monday.

They won the toss and elected to field on a wet green surface.

J. Marsh (12) and A. Roddis (12) got away to a flying start, but good thinking from wicket keeper T. Barker to stand up, slowed them down and eventually caused their downfall to C. Tindle (4 for 28).

K. McKeeman (2 for12) helped to dispatch the top five.

P. Norburry (66) showed his class but fell to C. Parry (1 for 12) in the 44th over to leave Firbeck chasing 126.

Chasing low scores has sometimes been Firbeck’s downfall, but not this time. A. Walker (70*) and A. Dutton (48*) took their time and didn’t give Anston a sniff, reaching the total in the 37th over.
